At least 27 residents of India’s eastern state of West Bengal have died in the last 24 hours from lightning strikes. This was reported on Tuesday by The Times of India.

The victims were residents of six districts of the state, among the dead were three women.
According to local authorities, the reason for the events is that people in the storm continue to work in the field, despite the announcement by emergency services of an increased level of danger.
The West Bengal government has expressed condolences to the families of the victims and called on the state to adhere to security measures in connection with the ongoing downpours and thunderstorms in the region.
The bodies of French students were found at the foot of an active volcano in the Indian Ocean.
