The governor of Saudi Arabia’s Qassim region held a forum on Monday to address domestic violence.

Prince Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud said that social media is playing an increasing role in inciting violence in people’s homes.
He made these statements while holding a forum entitled “Stable homes do not know violence.”
The event included the Buraidah Family Association and the Women’s Development Committee in Qassim.
The forum heard how the goal was to protect families from domestic violence in the region by researching the main causes.
Prince Faisal said the social isolation caused by social media has had a negative impact on families, creating barriers and increasing local issues.
Director of the Buraidah Family Association, Dr. Muhammad Al-Saif, said his organization has introduced several initiatives to address domestic violence, including supporting families during the pandemic and providing counseling for a successful marriage.
The deputy head of the Women’s Development Committee in Qassim, Fatima Al-Fraihi, said the goal is to protect families from violence, enhance cohesion, and support families to create safe homes.
The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Development, Dr. Abdullah Al-Wahaibi, said that the family is the building block of the Kingdom’s future. He said the Family Affairs Council has established 34 family protection centers and 15 shelters.
