One of the most famous desserts from shortcrust pastry was a ring with peanuts. The special taste of the “peanut” is complemented by a tender crumbly cake, which tastes like tea, coffee, or milk.
Ingredients:
1 egg
1 egg yolk
400 g of flour
200 g butter 72%
130 g of peanuts
100 g of sugar
1 tsp. vanilla sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
Cooking time: 2 hours
Step by step recipe:
1. To prepare a sand ring, peanuts should be pre-dried in the oven or fried in a pan.
2. Softened butter grind with granulated sugar and vanilla sugar with a mixer. When the mass lightens, beat the egg and mix well.
3. In the mass sift flour with baking powder and add salt. Using a spatula, mix all the ingredients, continue to knead with your hands, and form a ball. Wrap the finished dough in cling film and send it to the refrigerator for one hour.
4. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin into a layer about 7 mm thick. Cut a circle with a diameter of 10 cm, and inside make a hole of smaller diameter to get a ring.
5. Grease the ring of dough with egg yolk on top and put the sticky side in a container with chopped peanuts. Squeeze a little so that it sticks to the cookies.
6. Place the finished sand rings on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes at a temperature of 190 ° C. Focus on the color of the cookies. The yolk should bake and darken, while the peanuts turn golden.
