As of today, new rules of preferential customs clearance of cars with foreign registration come into force in Ukraine.

In most cases, the cost of customs clearance will not exceed one thousand euros. The new rules come into force one month after the law enters into force.
Preferential rate
Now used cars with European registration older than five years, which were imported into Ukraine by the end of 2020, are taxed at a reduced rate of value-added tax and excise tax.
The amount of excise duty
The amount of excise duty will depend on the age of the car, the volume, and the type of engine and will not depend on the cost.
Such cars are temporarily exempt from import duties.
Under the preferential mechanism, one car of one category of one owner can be cleared through customs.
How much time for registration
Preferential registration of the car will be possible within 180 days from the date of entry into force of the law. ATO / OOS participants will be able to use this opportunity for 270 days.
Which cars are not covered by the law:
do not meet environmental standards;
originate from the occupying state (aggressor state);
imported from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
“The laws come into force on the day after publication and come into force one month after the date of entry into force,” – said the OP.

On May 12, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed laws simplifying the procedure for customs clearance of cars with Euro number plates.
