The Japanese government will lift the state of emergency in most departments of the country on June 20, including Tokyo, which is to host the Olympics, subject to certain restrictions.

Since the end of April, Tokyo and several other Japanese departments have been in a state of emergency, consisting mainly of closing bars and restaurants early in the evening and banning them from selling alcohol.
As part of the quarantine easing, bars and restaurants will be able to serve alcohol again, but only until 19:00, and they will have to continue to close at 20:00, as is currently the case. The current state of emergency will also be extended to the Okinawa Department (southwestern Japan).
The lightened restrictions will also allow re-allowing events (sports events, concerts) with spectators, but with 50% of the reception capacity of each venue and within a maximum of 10,000 people.
Health experts advising the government have concluded that it would be safer to hold the Tokyo Olympics behind closed doors. Therefore, they will advocate for additional rules if local spectators are allowed.
Athletes risk being disqualified if they violate anti-coronavirus measures, such as daily screening tests and wearing a mask.
2020 Olympics
The Olympics in Tokyo was to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020. Due to the pandemic, the competition was postponed for a year and will now take place from July 23 to August 8, 2021. On March 20, the organizers finally decided to hold the Games without foreign fans. The decision on the admission of Japanese viewers should be made in June, depending on the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the country.
