Ukrainian producers of cherries due to weather conditions in 2021 lost from 20% to 80% of the harvest. This was stated by the head of the communications service of the Association “Berry of Ukraine” Tatiana Smirnova in a comment to ICTV.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – June 20, 2021 – Agriculture
“Losses already range from 20% of the harvest to 80%. The cherries, which will be of good quality, will be few and the price will remain quite high, “she said.
This situation was caused by spring frosts, as well as rains that have covered the south of Ukraine in recent weeks, in particular, Melitopol, which is a leading region in the production of cherries. The berry loses its marketable appearance due to excess moisture.
“Unfortunately, we see that the situation is deteriorating, and is deteriorating almost every day,” – said the expert.
