The summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe starts in Strasbourg today and will last until June 24.

This was announced by Deputy Member of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada to the PACE, People’s Deputy from the “Servant of the People” Yevhenia Kravchuk on Facebook.
The main issues on the agenda of the session: the situation with the Crimean Tatars, the urgent debate “Endless terror of the Belarusian authorities – a threat to all”, the elections recently observed by the Assembly (Bulgaria, Albania), COVID-19 passports, and certificates, women’s rights, European policy on diasporas, overcoming Afrophobia in Europe, the election of judges of the European Court of Human Rights and freedom of the media, public trust and the right to know.
In particular, Russia is urged to comply with the requirements:
to end the occupation of Crimea;
to conduct a full and transparent investigation into the deaths and disappearances of political activists;
stop pressure on independent media and Crimean Tatar organizations;
to allow Mustafa Dzhemilev and Refat Chubarov to return to the Crimea and cross the administrative border freely;
to ensure the protection of the rights of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians in the occupied Crimea.
The resolution was proposed by the representative of the Icelandic delegation, Sunna Torhildur. Debate and voting are scheduled for Wednesday, June 23.
Maria Mezentseva, head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, said that “all political groups agree that Crimea is part of Ukraine, it is an occupied territory. This repeats at least five resolutions already passed by this parliamentary assembly.”
