Islamic State militants in the eastern Iraqi province of Diyala shot dead a father and son.

IS militants abducted a father and son near their home in the city of Al-Mukdadiyah. Later, a combined force of the Iraqi army and police launched a search campaign to track down the militants and found the bodies of the abductees with bullet holes in their heads and chests.
Despite repeated military operations in Diyala, ISIS remnants are still hiding in some rugged areas near the border with Iran and vast areas stretching from the western part of the province to the Hamrin Mountains north of Bakuba, about 65km northeast of Baghdad.
An Iraqi militia leader has been arrested for an attack on a US base.
