A group of migrants stationed in a tent camp began to express dissatisfaction with their legal status in Lithuania and the court-imposed restrictions. Dozens of people behaved aggressively, made noise, tried to break out of the camp, disobeyed the border guards, who called them to order.
To quell the rebels, border guards used tear gas and fired rubber bullets into the air twice.
Soon the migrants returned to the tents and calmed down.
The Center for Registration of Foreigners in Pabrad receives detained foreigners who have illegally crossed the state border, provides material conditions for their reception, specifies their identities and routes to Lithuania.
Persons who have illegally crossed the state border are housed in the center and in a nearby tent camp.
There are currently 200 foreigners here. Many of them are housed in tents and provided with a minimum of living conditions – bathrooms with showers and toilets, living quarters, a place to eat and work. Some tents are intended for quarantine.
Detained families with children are housed in the same premises as vulnerable people – they can be women with children, people with disabilities, or other people who need a safer environment. There is also a children’s playground on the territory of the tent camp.
