Each country establishes control over the circulation of land and monitors who and what can grow on it. Ukraine did not envisage such control in the so-called “land reform“, said Vadym Ivchenko, Ambassador of the United Nations Global Fund for Sustainable Development and a member of the Parliamentary Agrarian Committee.

“The question is this: each country determines a certain turnover of land. Who has the right to buy at all: those who risk-taking land, who risk-taking a loan, who risk engaging in agriculture, doing business, and so on. I will give you the example of France. There is a state agency SAFER. If you buy land, SAFER says: you can only grow vineyards or hay for horses on this land, and you cannot sow rapeseed and corn. And you see if you need such land, ”said the expert.
Thus, according to Ivchenko, the country strategically determines the territories and how agriculture will develop in them, and in what form.
“And we have only a market for speculators and for those who want to sell. And for those who want to buy and work on the land, nothing has been done, ”the expert summed up.
