The State Space Agency of Ukraine has signed an agreement with NASA under the Artemis program on cooperation in civilian exploration and use of the Moon, Mars, comets and asteroids. Ukraine has become the ninth country to join the agreements, according to the agency’s website.
“This is important for Ukraine, because we will be able to implement our own projects in partnership with the world’s leading space agencies. This is a logical step in continuation of the fact that we have joined the Moon Village Association. For the first time, Ukrainian projects have become part of the global scenario of the development of the Moon from ISECG, and it is logical that we want to further realize our potential within the framework of the Artemis program “, – said the head of the Ukrainian agency Vladimir Usov.
In addition to the United States, Australia, Canada, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom have joined the program.
In the framework of NASA’s Artemis program , it is planned to return American astronauts to the Moon in 2024 and conduct research in the region of its South Pole, where water reserves in the form of ice should be located.
NASA said that as a source of water, air and fuel, they will become a key resource for long lunar missions, and will also be able to provide exploration of deep space.
