A female entrepreneur based in the United Arab Emirates has opened a new online store selling ethical and clean beauty brands in the Gulf region.

Amy Wilkinson-Lough’s Project bYouty platform features an array of cruelty-free, vegan, organic, halal, sustainable, clean, beauty, and wellness brands from around the world.
The British businesswoman emphasized that the idea for her online platform came after she saw a job opportunity in the Gulf countries.
Having worked in the music industry for 20 years, she said that when the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic spread, she found herself with “some extra time on my hands”, and the result was the bYouty project.
“I think I kind of gave myself a standard of whether I had six or 10 brands, I’d run it and see what happens,” she said. By the end of the second week, I had about 36 brands. I quickly realized that this wasn’t a side hustle at all. It was a real business opportunity that was at the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.”
Its website now contains more than 80 global brands, many of which are exclusive and/or early regional brands, such as True Skincare, Votary, Mal and Mod, Mara, Augustinus Bader, Algenist, Emma Hardie, Bolt Beauty and Hayo’ u, Bynacht and AB Circle, and men’s war paint.
It is noteworthy that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are witnessing a distinct trend in the beauty industry. Consumers know what they want but are often inundated with misinformation, unrealistic, heavily filtered photos, complex ingredient lists, and unnecessarily high price tags. This frustration has led me to everything about Project bYouty.
