The blueberry picking season has started in Volyn. This year’s harvest is a record, and the berries are large and juicy. This was reported by the Public.

Whole families go to the forest to pick berries to earn money in a few weeks. According to Kateryna Romaniuk from the village of Hayove, Lutsk district, he can invade up to a thousand hryvnias a day.
This work is painstaking because you need to pluck each berry separately. “Look like berries, look gold, not berries. I collect both for myself and for delivery. 15-16 liters – that’s for sure, “- says Kateryna Romanyuk.
14-year-old Karina goes to the forest from an early age and is used to such work. He says he wants to make money to buy new things for school and furnish his room. According to the girl, berries are difficult to collect, especially in the heat.
“Larger berries are easier to pick. Interesting. I don’t understand children, people who sit on phones for days. To go out into the fresh nature, and in the forest, it is fresh, warm, beautiful, ”says the woman from Volyn.
Forest guards make sure that collectors do not build fires or use combs. Now the forests have the highest level of fire danger, says forest master Mykola Romaniuk.
Collected villagers sell at the market or to harvesters. In a few weeks, the cost of blueberries may decrease, – said harvester Vasyl Vyshnevsky. The man said: the berries should be leafless, beautiful, and unripe.
Blueberries are frozen for the winter, compotes are made and dumplings with blueberries are made. Housewife Svitlana Kachmar says: in the summer during the season the family tries to consume as many berries as possible.
My favorite dish is dumplings with berries. He sculpts them together with his daughter and granddaughter. “Whoever wants: beats with a blender, makes yogurt, some dumplings, children eat it, sprinkle with sugar, whoever wants, and eats,” – added the woman.
This year, Volyn foresters set a limit, ie the maximum possible number of harvested berries – 500 tons of blueberries. According to Svitlana Dumka, a spokeswoman for the region’s forestry department, people can actually collect only a fifth.
