An unusual cloud during a thunderstorm, which turned into a storm, surprised many. Such a phenomenon is rare in the Zaporizhzhia region and got its name because of the similarity with the natural “namesake”.
What was it?
According to experts, the phenomenon is called a squall gate or a shelf cloud (thunderstorm shaft). It occurs in the presence of high humidity due to the interaction of air currents of different temperatures.
“I had exactly 2 minutes for everything about everything. Thank God I managed to remove and land the drone safely,” the author of the pictures writes.
