To combat illegal and sometimes inhuman actions of collectors, a new service has been launched in Ukraine, which will work 24/7 in messengers and in the Opendatabot application.
It is noted that a special chatbot was developed by the Ukrainian Catholic University and Bot & Partners within the framework of the National Bank’s Know Your Rights program.
With the help of the application, users can learn how to protect their privacy, check themselves in state registers and file a complaint with the National Bank of Ukraine.
It is also noted that in the current year alone, Ukrainians filed 3,142 written complaints and 8,258 oral appeals regarding collectors’ violations of ethical work standards. Now more than 2 million Ukrainians are in the register of debtors. During the year, their number increased by 18%.
Debtors most often complain about:
– unethical behavior of collectors – 1,422 complaints or 45%;
– use of personal data of third parties – 1,189 or 38%;
– aggressive behavior of employees of collection services – 398 or 13%;
– disclosure of personal data of borrowers – 133 or 4%.
The Ukrainians were reminded that only those collectors that are included in the corresponding register of collection companies operate legally. This is stated in the Law of Ukraine “On Consumer Lending”. Only such companies have the right to help the lender to settle overdue debts.
