The prosecution requested that the pre-trial detention be extended for two months, ie until 9 September.
Medvedchuk’s defense is seeking to replace 24-hour house arrest with night house arrest, and Medvedchuk himself insists that the case is falsified.
On May 13, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv sent Viktor Medvedchuk, a People’s Deputy of Ukraine, under 24-hour house arrest until July 9.
The Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the court of the first instance on the round-the-clock house arrest of People’s Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk.
Earlier, Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova stated that People’s Deputies Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak had been informed about the suspicion of treason and attempted looting of national resources in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions against Medvedchuk, his wife, and others. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said that the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine had decided to apply sanctions against Viktor Medvedchuk and his wife Oksana Marchenko for financing terrorism.
As for Kozak, President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed personal sanctions on him on February 2. The sanctions will last for 5 years. Sanctions have also been imposed on a number of Noviny media holding companies, which also include ZIK and NewsOne TV channels, and Channel 112.
