The main symbol of the Olympic Games has arrived in the last two weeks of its 120-day relay, which covers all 47 prefectures of Japan. The ceremonial arrival of the fire began in Komazawa Park in Tokyo. The ceremony was opened by Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike.
It is noted that over the next two weeks, the flames will “travel” around the capital before arriving at the Olympic Stadium. Through COVID-19 the route of the fire will be changed.
In late June, Japanese authorities announced that the Olympic torch relay in Tokyo would avoid public roads in most areas of the city for the first eight days after the start of the phase in the Japanese capital next week.
On July 8, it became known that the organizers of the Olympic Games banned all spectators from participating in the Games in Tokyo after the Prime Minister of Japan declared a state of emergency in the host city, because, since May, the Olympics in Tokyo registers the highest incidence of COVID -19.
The Tokyo Olympics begin on July 23.
Previously expected that local spectators will still be admitted to the competition with certain reservations: the number of spectators in the stadiums will be limited, they will be required to wear masks.
