According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as a result of the attack, some documents and mostly fake messages related to the Sea Breeze 2021 military exercises were published.
Hackers used vulnerabilities in the framework to attack.
“There was a temporary shutdown of the website of the Ukrainian Navy, which was caused by the vulnerabilities of the framework, which was once used to create it. In addition, there were cases of unsuccessful DDoS attacks against the official web portal of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,” the statement said.
UPDATED. The department assured that none of the documents was received as a result of information leakage from the information and telecommunication systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense noted that international defense cooperation projects and assistance to Ukraine from partner countries traditionally evoke inadequate emotions in the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation. This year’s international military exercises “Sea Breeze – 2021” are no exception.
Now the Navy website is already working.
On July 28, the largest international exercise in its history, Sea Breeze, started in Odessa. Representatives of 29 countries, up to 5 thousand people take part in the exercises. personnel, 24 ships, 40 aircraft, 18 special purpose teams, and diving teams.
Also involved in the exercises are the destroyer HMS Defender, the frigate HNLMS Evertsen F805 and the American missile destroyer USS Ross.
The training will last until July 10.
