“I don’t know what they are guided by, but the Ukrainian delegation is guided by two things. First, we believe that the epidemiological situation does not allow us to go to Minsk, and we prefer to stay by video conference. The second is the situation in Belarus, namely The fact that we did not recognize Lukashenko as President-elect. Ukraine denied him the right to represent the Belarusian people. That is, to go to the country in such a state and appeal to its mediation services would be a huge mistake.
However, he acknowledged that the choice of another place of negotiations instead of Belarus is now in the theoretical plane. Different countries follow different epidemiological measures. Therefore, the best choice is to leave everything as it is until the pandemic subsides.
“I think in the near future everything will remain in video conference mode. As for the countries that could accept – it could be neutral countries that are not NATO countries. In Europe, it’s Austria, Switzerland. Proposals sounded different – from Poland, Turkey, but It is still unknown whether the Russians will agree to the transfer at all, “the adviser to the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG added.
Earlier, Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, said that Yermak and Nuland were discussing US involvement in the Donbas talks.
