Ukraine won the first prize at the 2020 Olympics, the winner of the first prize in Tokyo was Ukrainian judoka Daria Bilodid, who won the “bronze” in the weight up to 48 kg.

Belodid became the first Ukrainian judoka in history to reach the semifinals of a judo tournament. In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian defeated the representative of Portugal, Katarina Costa, thanks to which she got the opportunity to compete for a medal.
In order to reach the final, Bilodid had to defeat the Japanese Fauna Tonaki, but unfortunately – to determine the winner in the confrontation between the Ukrainian and the Japanese was possible only thanks to the rule of “golden score” – in four minutes of the fight none of the rivals allowed the other to earn a point.
The fight between the rivals lasted seven minutes. And the key moment took place at 6:59 minutes – Tonaki performed a reception with an ippon and kept Bilodid on the tatami.
The defeat allowed to count only on bronze. The Ukrainian won with an ippon at the end of the fight, holding her opponent.
