It became known how hermetic locks work in the Kyiv metro, which can withstand bombing, flooding, and, theoretically, a nuclear strike. Blogger Oleg Totsky told about this on his page on the social network.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – July 26, 2021 – Reports
Hermetic seals exist to seal the subway from the external environment and create compartments with autonomous life support. They are protective and sealed doors that block tunnels, stations, lobbies, and ventilation shafts of the subway in the event of various kinds of emergency situations. According to the documents, hermetic seals are called metal structures. Their meaning is not only in sealing the metro from the external environment, but also in distributing the entire subway system into sealed compartments, each of which can become a shelter for the population and not depend on the neighboring section.
The head of the Moscow subway, Viktor Braginsky, stated that during the construction of the metro during the Cold War, the possibilities of military intervention, namely bombing, and even a nuclear explosion, were first of all considered. However, at the same time, such equipment is actively used against natural factors in the elements, for example, to avoid flooding of stations during a rainstorm.
It should be reminded that during a heavy downpour on July 19 in Kyiv, crossings, streets, bridges, and metro stations “Akademgorodok” and “Beresteyskaya” were flooded. According to the Kyiv City State Administration (KSCA), in half an hour, the capital had a weekly rainfall. More than three hundred public utilities liquidated the consequences of bad weather in Kyiv.
