Poland has been preventing the launch of Nord Stream-2 for several years, as it believes the project is unprofitable for Central and Eastern European countries. This opinion was expressed on Monday in an interview with Polskie Radio, Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Marcin Przydach.

“We have been delaying the finalization of Nord Stream 2 for several years. If it weren’t for our actions, this project would have been completed a long time ago, ”Pshydach said.
“The longer this pipeline is inactive, the better for Central and Eastern Europe and the unity of the EU,” he added.
On July 21, the United States and Germany reached an agreement on the Nord Stream-2 project. Washington has acknowledged that sanctions will not stop its implementation, and Berlin has pledged to continue the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine. US President Joe Biden has said that Nord Stream 2 is 99% complete and cannot be stopped. The US government has reserved the right to take action in response to “Russia’s use of energy as a geopolitical weapon in Europe” and aggression against Ukraine, the State Department said.
