On July 27, an explosion occurred in an industrial park in the German city of Leverkusen, in the western part of the administrative district of Cologne. Police reported several injuries and are trying to establish all the details of the incident.

“After the explosion, a fire brigade, rescuers and police went to Leverkusen in the Burrig area. The extent of the damage and the cause of the incident is unknown. Police are investigating the circumstances of the situation. There are several injured,” the statement said.
According to ABC, the explosion occurred in an industrial park for chemical companies. After the incident, a large black cloud rose into the sky. The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief in Germany has classified this as an “emerging threat”.
At the same time, law enforcement officers urged Leverkusen residents not to leave the premises and not to open windows and doors, and asked drivers not to visit the area. Police also blocked a number of streets and highways leading to the area.
The Cologne fire service said there was no threat to the city’s residents: “Measurements of the air by environmental units have shown that there is no threat to the population of Cologne now. The measurements are ongoing.”
