Seismologists recorded an earthquake on Thursday in Alaska. The Geological Survey and the National Tsunami Warning Center reported a magnitude of 8.2.

A tsunami alert was issued after the quake. According to the Warning Center, the disaster could hit the Mariana Islands in the Pacific Ocean.
An offshore of magnitude 6.2 was later recorded off the coast of Alaska. The US Geological Survey notes that its epicenter was located northwest of the small town of Chignik. The cell was located at a depth of 42.2 km.
The epicenter was 801.6 km northeast of Anchorage with a population of about 298,000. The cell was located at a depth of 3.4 km. No damage was reported and no casualties were reported.
