Two people were killed and dozens were injured in a leak at a chemical plant in Texas.

Chemical company LyondellBasell said in a statement Wednesday that about 100,000 pounds of the mixture, which included acetic acid, had been dumped on its La Porte complex near Houston, resulting in deaths.
Acetic acid can be diluted in water to produce white vinegar, it is used for many industrial purposes. According to the National Library of Medicine, exposure to undiluted chemicals can cause severe burns and eye damage.
According to LyondellBasell, 30 people were taken to the hospital for treatment. Twenty-four of these people were released.
The company said that monitoring the air quality near the plant did not reveal “any level of concern” for residents.
The largest chemical plant in Europe exploded in Germany. An explosion in western Germany (the city of Leverkusen) killed two people and injured more than 30 people.
