A representative of LG Electronics has officially confirmed the news about the start of sales of Apple products in its stores. South Korean stores are expected to ship both iPhones and other Apple electronics, such as the Apple Watch.

Immediately after the decision to end the production of smartphones and the decision to sell Apple electronics in its stores, LG met with opposition from local small distributors, who accused the company of violating an agreement from 2018 that protected small businesses from the non-competitive behavior of tech giants.
At that time, LG and Samsung agreed to sell only their own phones in their stores in order to leave the opportunity for smaller companies to earn money. But now the association representing small retailers has signed a renewed agreement allowing LG to sell other brands of smartphones.
Sales of iPhones and other Apple electronics are expected to begin in select LG stores as early as August. Now the company owns 400 retail outlets in the country. The agreement between LG and Apple will contribute to the growth of sales of smartphones of the latter while creating certain problems for Samsung – competitors are fiercely promoting their products in the vacant niche.
In particular, in May, Apple and Samsung, in collaboration with local telecom operators, organized trade-in programs that could exchange old LG smartphones for new iPhones or Samsung at a discount, while both competitors offered an additional “non-refundable” subsidy for about $ 135.
According to market research conducted by Counterpoint, Samsung accounted for 65% of the smartphone market in South Korea, Apple 20%, and LG 13%. This 13% share is now trying to divide the companies remaining on the market.
