It is believed that the level of testosterone in the blood of men is related to their socioeconomic status. For example, people with higher concentrations are more likely to have a higher level of education or income. For women, conversely, this hormone is associated with a negative prognosis.

In this case, low marital status may be caused by stress itself and the health changes it can cause. On the other hand, testosterone levels can rise if a person has a positive perception of their socioeconomic status. This means that testosterone levels may not be the reason for success.
New study
To find out if testosterone really affects performance, scientists from the UK and Norway conducted extensive research using genetic methods.
Scientists have selected more than 306,000 people from the British Biobank. They identified people with genetic variants associated with high levels of testosterone. The high concentration of the hormone should not be affected by social and other conditions. Therefore, the data can indicate with a high degree of reliability whether testosterone is associated with success.
Testosterone does not affect performance
The researchers focused on the association between testosterone, income, occupation, place of residence, skills, risk appetite, and health. It turns out that genetically determined elevated testosterone levels have almost nothing to do with any of these indicators in both men and women.
