The head of the Institute of Public Policy and Consulting Serhiy Bykov wrote about this on Facebook.
Thus, the company managed to reach a record low in recent years, the duration of freight cars – 7 days. In 2019, this figure was over 9.2 days.

According to Bykov, Ukrzaliznytsia has started selling non-core assets: “The first non-core assets (from sports clubs to shops) have already been put up for auction through Prozorro at a starting price of over UAH 40 million.”
Also, through the Prozorro system, UZ has already held the first auctions for the lease of station premises in Dnipro, Zaporizhia, and Khmelnytsky, which could potentially bring the company more than UAH 100 million. for a year.
“Another source of replenishment of the revenue side of UZ was the sale of scrap metal. Here, the railways are proud to say about the breakthrough. Since the beginning of the year, it was sold in the amount of more than 1 billion UAH.”, – added the expert.
Such actions had a positive effect on the state of the company. As stated by Acting Chairman of the Board of UZ Ivan Yuryk, in the second quarter of this year, it made a profit of 230 million UAH.
“For the budget money, 100 passenger cars of domestic production should be delivered this year – UZ has already transferred the prepayment to the Kryukivka car-building plant,” Bykov said.
Additionally, within the framework of the intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and France, 130 new locomotives are expected to be delivered with partial localization of their production in Ukraine.
At the same time, according to Bykov, now the management of Ukrzaliznytsia has their hands tied for further renewal of the company.
“To continue the reform of UZ, at least, it is necessary to adopt a law on railway transport. Well, to resolve the issue with the company’s management. Restart the supervisory board, whose term has almost expired, and appoint a permanent board – without any prefixes.” – he stated.
