According to European Truth, Kuleba emphasized that the geopolitical construction of the “post-Soviet space” used by Western countries to denote the region from Central Europe to Central Asia is outdated and that it is time to replace this vision. The Minister stressed that Ukraine is part of the West, and NATO and the European Union should view it as such.
Dmitri Kuleba wrote: “In the case of Ukraine we are talking first of all about the institutionalization of our country’s place in the Western world. It is time for the United States and European allies to define a clear roadmap for Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the European Union.
The Secretary stressed that the United States and its Western partners have the opportunity to develop an ambitious strategy for the region, which will include specific policies based on the circumstances of individual countries and blocs.
“In the case of Ukraine and Georgia, the main priority should be to move towards the accession of our two countries to NATO,” Kuleba said, adding that both countries are already participating in NATO actions as partners with enhanced and redoubled capabilities alongside Bulgaria, Romania, and other countries.
In addition to security cooperation, Ukraine and Georgia are also committed to strengthening economic and political integration with Europe, evidenced by the formation of the “joint triumvirate” with Moldova, which declares the goal of membership of the three countries in the European Union.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said: “Deepening engagement with this group of countries gives Europe the opportunity to strengthen its global influence, and expand its democratic values. It also helps the Joseph Biden administration achieve its goal of maintaining unity across the Atlantic and strengthening the eastern frontier.
The Minister stressed that Ukraine is fully committed to accelerating internal transformations that meet the expectations of its European and transatlantic partners, but said that “Ukraine’s efforts will not be sufficient to succeed without the strong support of the European Union, NATO, and their member states, and our steps must be reciprocal and work must be to achieve The goal of Ukraine joining both organizations is common. The United States and Europe must recognize that Ukraine is an inseparable part of the West. Only then will our current efforts not be in vain.
