KIEV. November 17. UNN. Since the beginning of 2020, 2.7 million foreigners have visited Ukraine, which is almost 4 times less than the figure for the same period last year – 10.7 million people. This was reported by the press service of the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine, UNN reports.
“The arrival of foreigners in Ukraine has decreased almost four times: 2.7 million in 9 months of 2020 against 10.7 million in 2019 for the same period,” – said in DART.
The agency also cited figures provided by the National Bank that in 9 months of 2020, foreign tourists spent in Ukraine 27 times less currency than in the same period last year.
It is reported that in total for the three quarters of 2020, citizens of other countries brought to Ukraine only 244 million dollars at a time when for the whole of 2019, foreign tourists spent in Ukraine 1.62 billion dollars.
It should be noted that due to quarantine and closed borders, the costs of Ukrainians traveling abroad also dropped significantly. For 9 months of 2020, this figure amounted to 3.259 billion dollars – 2.2 times less than for 9 months of 2019. At the same time, most of this amount is currently spent by Ukrainian workers abroad.
It should be added that in early November, parliamentarians passed a general presidential bill , which provides for the reduction or exemption from taxation of a number of projects and programs in the field of culture, tourism and creative industries, against the background of the corona crisis.
At the same time, Google provided information on the top tourist sites , places and destinations in Ukraine by the number of Google-Maps & Search queries for 9 months of 2020.
