About 100 tons of watermelons per hectare. Such harvests of melons can be harvested by farmers of the Vinnytsia region. For example, Andriy Fedik, from the village of Velyka Kisnytsia of the Yampil Territorial Community, has been enjoying the biggest berry from his own garden for almost the last eight years. This season, the first fruits ripened two weeks ago.

And farmers who work in the neighborhood and use specially equipped under the melon “mini-greenhouses”, which are also called “tunnels”, began to harvest a little less than a month ago. They said that the yield per hectare could reach 100 tons, “says Andriy Fedak.
He also notes that Vinnytsia is probably the best region for growing watermelons.
“Have you noticed what the current climate is like? And watermelons do not grow in the sand, but in chernozem. Even if you do not use drip irrigation, the yield can reach 40-60 tons per hectare. I assure this by my own example because I planted watermelons on a hectare of land for myself and my family. And, here, look at the result. One watermelon weighs 8-12 kilograms, ”Andriy Fedik estimates.
He also notes that in the near future Vinnytsia will be able to provide the local market with watermelons. This is confirmed by the experience of growing tomatoes, which is carried out by almost every inhabitant of Velyka Kisnytsia. They even erected a tomato monument there.
“And you will not have to wait until the watermelon is brought from Odesa, Kherson, or abroad! Gone are the days when people came to us from the southern regions of Ukraine to exchange watermelons with melons for potatoes, ”he explains.
He also states that farmers of the Vinnytsia region have studied the principles of growing melons on an industrial scale. And even the inhabitants of our region for their own needs in the gardens.
“Personally for me, the watermelons I grew on my plot are the most delicious. Besides, I know that all this grew up without any “chemistry”, – Andrey Fedik emphasized.
