UAH 6 billion 826 million of unused balances of the educational subvention was accumulated on the accounts of local budgets.

According to the Ministry of Finance, this amount of funds was formed primarily due to the accumulation of targeted funds in local accounts, which were provided from the state budget for the development of the material and technical base of Ukrainian schools.
At the same time, funds are used at the local level very slowly and often after the beginning of the school year.
The Ministry of Finance insists that the funds “work” for the residents of communities and provide affordable and quality education to its applicants. To do this, they must be used for their intended purpose in the next budget period.
“The current trend indicates the accumulation of state budget funds in local budgets,” the Ministry of Finance said.
Instead, according to the Ministry of Finance, the remnants of the subvention can be used primarily for the purchase of school buses, equipping schools with computers and multimedia equipment, purchasing textbooks, updating the material and technical base of schools.
In addition, the Ministry of Finance believes that the balance of the educational subvention can be used to repair and purchase equipment for canteens, connect schools to the Internet, build new and renovate school toilets, purchase personal protective equipment, disinfectants, and more.
