There are many nuances in the sorting process. Fruit defects can be quite varied. For example, with the help of previous-generation technologies, it is almost impossible to distinguish the “bitter pitting” of an apple from minor mechanical damage, but these are different classes of the product.
New equipment with an infrared camera distinguishes between these and other damages.
Dnipro Gardens is introducing intelligent sorting technology on its line. We will improve the line’s photo analyzer – its “brain”, the system that “scans” the fruit for several parameters. The ability of the line to recognize defects of apples, as well as pears, the first harvest of which will be harvested next fall, will be improved. The company has ordered a new module based on color and infrared cameras, ”the company’s Facebook page said.
This is a revolutionary system of technical vision, which will be able to provide 80 photos of each apple in high definition, as well as analyze every unevenness of the apple on its skin and even under it. Thus, “Gardens of the Dnieper” will be able to guarantee even higher quality apples to their customers from more than 20 countries.
