The final concert of the All-Ukrainian Composer’s Competition “Ukrainian Concert Overture” will take place in the courtyard of the National Museum of History of Ukraine on August 19. The National Symphony Orchestra will play works by three winners. Admission is free for everyone.
According to the results of the competition, the winners were: Oleksandr Shymko (third place), Volodymyr Runchak (second place), and Bohdan Kryvopust (first place).
In addition, music by Ukrainian and world composers will be played this evening, as well as the DUMKA National Chapel, will sing. In total, more than 140 performers will gather on one stage.
The All-Ukrainian Composition Competition “Ukrainian Concert Overture”, initiated by the Maria Didkovska Charitable Foundation “Open Music of the City”, started at the end of 2020 with the support of the law firm ASTERS and the secular portal JetSetter. Its main goal is to reveal the musical potential of the country and create a modern overture that can be used during all official ceremonies. Applications for participation in the competition were submitted by more than 40 authors, but only 35 overtures were evaluated by the jury.
