Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko is outraged by the extreme shooting involving cars on Sofiivska Square and asks the competent authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.

The minister said he had asked the National Police and the Kyiv City State Administration for a thorough investigation.
He also noted that the Ministry of Culture will find out how this became possible.
“Obviously, this is a reason for our ministry to have the leverage to impose fines or a ban if this happens near historical monuments,” Tkachenko stressed.
On the morning of August 10, a video appeared on the Internet showing cars performing various tricks on Sofia Square at high speed. At the same time, it is visible that on asphalt there are traces from tires.
The Kyiv City State Administration appealed to the police regarding the extreme shooting involving cars on Sofiivska Square, where pedestrians were in danger.
The Kyiv City State Administration said that this morning in the historic center of the capital, on Sofia Square, there were advertising shootings using extreme elements, in particular, cars were drifting at high speed in the middle of the pedestrian zone.
At the same time, no special fences were installed at the shooting site. “All pedestrians who passed by were in danger,” the Kyiv City State Administration said.
The city administration reports that due to extreme maneuvers, the surface of the historic square was contaminated with traces of car tires.
“The city authorities did not give any permission to organize and conduct these surveys. The survey was also not agreed with the balance holder of the territory. The city appealed to the police to investigate the incident and identify those involved,” the statement said.
Police see hooliganism in the filming of advertisements involving cars on Sofia Square without the permission of local authorities. Criminal proceedings have been instituted under Part 2 of Art. 296 (“Hooliganism”) of the Criminal code of Ukraine.
