The Secretary of Defense of the United Kingdom, Ben Wallace, said that the protection of British citizens was a priority for the government, so he “should do everything possible to ensure their safety”.
Last week, the Foreign Office advised all British citizens to leave Afghanistan. According to them, there are still about 4,000 people.
The Taliban launched a large-scale offensive in Afghanistan after the United States and its allies began withdrawing troops from the republic. At the beginning of July, more than 90% of the US military left the country. It is planned to withdraw troops to the United States by the end of August.
As of August 12, the Taliban had seized one of Afghanistan’s main cities, Kandahar.
In less than a week, the Taliban took control of ten provinces in Afghanistan.
