In Ukraine, the culture of consumption of asparagus beans is already quite developed, but producers, before starting to grow it, should take care of sales channels.

According to the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (UCAB), the undisputed leader in the production of asparagus (green beans) is China. In 2019, this country produced 21.7 million tons of this crop or 81% of world production. The EU produces about 4% of its global production. In Ukraine, asparagus beans are grown on an area of not more than 90 hectares.
“Like many other vegetable crops, the vast majority of asparagus beans in Ukraine are grown in households. According to official statistics, the share of industrial / farming accounts for only 5% of the total production of this crop, “said UCAB analyst Svitlana Lytvyn.
