On the evening of August 14, the grand opening ceremony of the 12th Odessa International Film Festival will be held at the Odessa Opera.

The opening ceremony is currently preceded by the laying of a “red carpet” leading to the stage for festival guests, famous movie stars, and film professionals.
The opening ceremony will be hosted by Yanina Sokolova and Oleg Panyuta. Thus, Odesa will turn into a city of celebrations, where a large-scale weekly film marathon will begin, filled with Ukrainian premieres, networking with creative film groups, screenings of international films, master classes by famous filmmakers, and star-studded encounters.
Also, a large outdoor cinema will traditionally take place on the Potemkin Staircase, which will mark the end of the 12th Odessa International Film Festival on August 21.
Ukrainian local media reported that the 2021 Odesa International Film Festival will take place from August 14 to 21 and is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.
As for the competition program for this year’s festival, it is the program of the national competition, which will include 6 Ukrainian premieres: the musical film “Kings of Rap” directed by Miroslav Latik with Irma Vitovska; Blindfolded, directed by Taras Dron; The film “Space” directed by Dmytro Tomashpolsky; Documentary film “National Museum” directed by Andrei Zagdansky; STOP-EARTH, directed by Catherine Ermine. Also participating in the competition is the movie “Rival”, directed by Markus Lenz.
