Ukraine has agreed to provide logistical assistance to the United States in evacuating refugees from Afghanistan. This was stated at a briefing at the airport by Foreign Minister Dmitri Kuleba.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – August 22, 2021 – Ukraine News
“The operation currently being carried out by the United States and other countries to remove citizens is unprecedented in its complexity and the number of people who need to be evacuated in a short period of time. Therefore, indeed, the United States asked Ukraine to help with this operation, and we agreed to provide logistical assistance in carrying out this evacuation, ”Kuleba said.
He stressed that this is not about the settlement of evacuees in Ukraine.
“This does not mean that people who will be deported under this program will remain living in Ukraine. It is a question of rendering assistance in their export from Kabul with the subsequent export first of all to the USA, and also to other countries where they will live “, – the minister added.
According to the Foreign Minister, so far no Afghan citizen has flown to Ukraine under this program.
The day before, the head of the State Department’s press service, Ned Price, said at a briefing that a number of countries, including Ukraine, had offered the United States their assistance in evacuating Afghans from Kabul.
