A joint international exhibition displaying the works of Saudi and American photographers was opened at the Saudi Society for Cultures and Arts in Jeddah.

The exhibition, which was held under the auspices of the Consul General of the United States in Jeddah Faris Yousef Asad – part of the International Photography Day – displays 48 photographs depicting the various natural and cultural life in the Kingdom and the United States.
The works include landscapes, archaeological and historical monuments, and civic features in both countries.
The exhibition, curated by Saudi photographer Omar Al-Nahdi, also showcases the topic “Concepts of Reality, Perception, and Trust Hanging in the Balance.”
Famous landmarks, including the legendary Chicago Theatre, the Mirror Building in AlUla, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and the golden sand dunes of the Empty Quarter, contrast with the red sands of the Arizona desert.
Celebrations of Saudi National Day and Independence Day are also shown in both countries.
Through the exhibition, SSCA’s focus on Saudi-American art and cultural exchange strengthen the relationship between the two countries, which spans more than 70 years.
SSCA Director in Jeddah Mohammed Al-Sabeeh said that the joint exhibitions, in coordination with photographic associations from around the world, “encourage more dialogue and the exchange of photographic experiences and experiences.”
Al-Sabeeh urged the importance of celebrating the days of international culture and arts and building bridges of communication with everyone “so that the Kingdom’s national message reaches around the world.”
Asad, who was newly appointed and attended his first event in the kingdom, emphasized the “longstanding relationship” between the United States and Saudi Arabia and expressed his desire to further promote cooperation in culture and the arts.
He said: “This is an excellent example of how art can build bridges between the peoples of two countries. The amazing thing about this exhibition is that it shows the kind of similarities and differences at the same time. It’s a great show and every picture has a message.”
Asad is familiar with Saudi culture, having grown up in the 1980s in Tabuk. He said that the Kingdom “is witnessing a prosperous era in all fields.”
Al-Nahdi, the curator of the exhibition, said: “During this gathering, the photographers were able to show pictures of some of the amazing monuments and sites in each country. We are delighted to gather these wonderful photographers in one place.”
Saudi illustrator and photographer Maha Al Kafi said: “It is nice to see such beautiful pictures shared by Saudi and American photographers, and I think we enjoyed seeing these landmarks side by side in one place.”
