A presidential delegation led by US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm arrived in Kyiv to represent the United States at the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform and events dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day.

“A presidential delegation led by Energy Minister Jennifer Granholm has arrived in Kyiv to represent the United States on the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence on August 23-24,” the embassy said.
On August 23, the delegation will take part in the Crimean Platform summit, and Minister Granholm will speak on behalf of US President Joe Biden and the United States.
On August 24, Jennifer Granholm and the US delegation will join President Volodymyr Zelensky and honored guests at a military parade dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence on Independence Square.
Minister Grangolm will also meet with Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov, and supporters of clean energy to discuss efforts for a more secure and sustainable energy future for Ukraine.
On August 23, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent will take part in a discussion on “Non-Recognition of the Illegal Annexation of Crimea as a Global Challenge: How to Combine Pragmatic Interests with Ethics?”
Assistant Deputy Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Kara MacDonald will speak in the discussion “Reintegration of Crimea: through human rights and sustainable development”.
The Crimean Platform summit will take place in Kyiv on August 23. There are 45 participants – representatives of different countries and organizations.
A military parade on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence will be held in Kyiv on August 24 with the participation of aviation.
