An explosion at a Carbonera coal mine in central Colombia has killed at least four people, injured another, and trapped seven miners.

According to the state National Mining Agency (ANM), the explosion at a mine in the city of Topaga “was associated with methane and possibly coal dust.”
Rescuers installed fans in the mine to send oxygen to the detained workers when officials from Topaga City Hall, police, the Red Cross, and civil defense gathered on the scene to help.
“So far, four employees have been identified, unfortunately without vital signs. We are working to find and rescue seven other employees who have not yet been found, ”the agency said in a press release.
