The NS-17 mission is known to take place at 1:35 p.m. Coordinated Universal Time. Launch Site One is located in West Texas, USA. According to Space, unlike the last Blue Origin flight, this flight will be without a crew. The New Shepard rocket will contain 18 commercial shipments, as well as thousands of postcards sent by children through the Blue Origin Club. It is also known that outside the capsule will be a demonstration experiment by NASA with a sensor of ascent from descent, descent, and landing. This will be the second Blue Origin flight for the sensor complex, which first reached suborbital space aboard the New Shepard in October 2020.
Blue Origin has one main competitor in the field of suborbital space tourism – Virgin Galactic Ilona Maska, which last month conducted its first full-crew suborbital flight.
The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has agreed to suspend a contract for the development of a monthly landing module, which was awarded to SpaceX entrepreneur Ilona Mask, after Blue Origin, owned by Jeff Bezos, filed a lawsuit in federal court.
