Malta has recognized Ukraine’s digital certificates of vaccination against coronavirus infection.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – August 26, 2021 – Tourism and Travel
This was announced by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba on the Twitter microblog.
“Malta has recognized the Ukrainian digital vaccination certificates from COVID-19, in accordance with the EU recommendation. We are working to increase the freedom and safety of travel of Ukrainian citizens, even in the difficult conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Kuleba said.
We will remind, on August 19 the European Union officially recognized conformity to the European Ukrainian COVID-certificates in application “Action”. At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine explained that the decision of the European Commission on the recognition of Ukrainian COVID-certificates is not binding. The question of who and under what conditions to admit remains exclusively within the competence of the EU member states themselves.
Prior to that, the vaccination certificates from COVID-19 in the mobile application “Action” successfully passed the technical assessment in the European Union.
Ukrainian digital COVID certificates have already been recognized by a number of countries, including Hungary, Turkey, and Bulgaria.
The vaccination campaign in Ukraine began on February 24.
Vaccination is currently done with the CoviShield vaccine (AstraZeneca), licensed in India at the Serum Institute; CoronaVac, developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech; Comirnaty vaccine manufactured by Pfizer-BioNTech; AstraZeneca-SKBio vaccine, produced in South Korea, and Spikevax by the American company Moderna.
