It is reported that the first stage of the reconstruction of the memorial took place in 2019. Then, thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the central element of the memorial was restored – a unique monument built 98 years ago on the burial site of 154 Ukrainian soldiers.
During 2020-2021, with the support of the Brno City Hall, the rest of the memorial elements and individual graves were reconstructed.
The construction of the monument was initiated in August 1923 by the educational and organizing committee of Ukrainian emigrants in the city of Brno. The memorial was supposed to honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in Brno and in the South Moravian region since the beginning of the First World War.
