The politician corresponded with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman and businessman James Dyson.
According to the publication, Johnson used text messages to discuss with the prince a possible sale of the English football club Newcastle, which is owned by one of the richest entrepreneurs in Britain, Mike Ashley, a consortium involving the State Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. Discussions about the purchase by Saudi investors of the Newcastle team, which has won the English Championship four times in its history, have been going on for several years, but in 2020, according to reports in the British press, they stopped “due to uncertainty.”
In addition, Johnson corresponded on a personal phone with businessman James Dyson, who heads the company for the manufacture of electrical appliances Dyson. It is noted that during the conversation, the businessman, who proposed at the beginning of the pandemic to install government ventilators, asked the Prime Minister to establish a preferential tax regime for the company.
Violated the recommendations he recommended
The newspaper recalled that in 2019, after winning the parliamentary elections, Johnson advised members of the government not to use personal phones and e-mail in their duties, as they may be more vulnerable to hacker attacks. According to The Times, earlier former Health Minister Matt Hancock was exposed for violating the relevant government regulations. Against this background, representatives of the opposition Labor Party accused the Johnson government of irresponsible behavior that threatens the national security of the United Kingdom.
