At least 29 people were killed and several were injured early Tuesday after a passenger bus crashed into a ravine in central Peru.

It is noted that the bus driver lost control and crashed into a mountain slope, then plunged about 100 meters to the banks of the river Rimak.
Police said they were investigating the cause of the accident.
According to the Supervision of Land Transport of Passengers, Cargo and Goods, geolocation data showed that “the crashed vehicle was moving at an excessive speed”.
Authorities closed the area as cars were evacuated to nearby hospitals.
At least 15 people have been killed and three injured in a bus crash in southern Peru.
