Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – September 01, 2021 – Technology
Thanks to the Internet Subvention project, more than 3,000 Ukrainian villages will be connected to the optical Internet for the first time this year. We are talking about equal access and opportunities for everyone.
What is our goal? 95% of the rural population should be able to connect to broadband internet at 100 Mbps by 2024.
Why did we launch the Internet Subvention project? We want to connect more than 6,000 social facilities in 3,000 villages to the optical Internet. Social objects are schools, hospitals, libraries, etc. This will help ensure equal access and opportunities for every Ukrainian.
In the case of successful tenders within the project and network development through the subvention, the total percentage of coverage of the population in the villages will increase by 10%. That is, for the first time more than a million Ukrainians will be able to connect to high-speed Internet.
670 territorial communities received over 483 million hryvnias for the development of the optical Internet network. So far, 556 communities have announced tenders and 175 have completed procurement. Providers are actively building networks to connect villages. You can track all tenders and detailed information about each purchase in a completely transparent way using the online dashboard.
