“Postpone until September 6 at 11:00,” the judge said in late August this year.
The judge then said that the Supreme Court had received a letter from the Prosecutor General’s Office stating that the UCP had received a request from Yanukovych’s lawyer to take steps to obtain permission to enter Russia to ensure Yanukovych’s remote participation in cassation appeals.
Due to the fact that this issue does not fall within the competence of the prosecutor’s office, it was sent to court for consideration.
The court decided to attach this letter to the materials of the criminal proceedings.
Earlier, the Supreme Court postponed the hearing to give the lawyer time to come to the client in Russia to ensure his participation in the hearing by videoconference.
It will be recalled that the court offered the defense to ensure Yanukovych’s participation in the cassation hearing of this criminal proceeding using its own technical means and TrueConf software for video conferencing.
On January 24, 2019, the Obolon District Court of Kyiv sentenced the ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to 13 years in prison in a case of treason. The court decided to find Yanukovych guilty of committing crimes under Part 1 of Art. 111, part 5 of Art. 27, part 2 of Art. 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The Kyiv Court of Appeals upheld the verdict of the court of the first instance in the case of treason of former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. The case went to cassation.
