With less than 30 days left until Expo 2020, there is definitely a lot to look forward to. In addition to a series of live performances initiated by the legendary Iraqi singer Kazem Al Saher and a plethora of international restaurants that are sure to entice even discerning connoisseurs, the upcoming event has announced that it has teamed up with Dubai. Alserkal Street Arts Center in a series of cultural events.

Titled Cultures in Conversation, the initiative, which was commissioned by Expo, is part of Building Bridges, one of the five tracks under the Expo Program for People and Planet.
Expo 2020’s People and Planet program address the world’s most critical issues and opportunities, with the aim of inspiring meaningful teamwork. Through five tracks – Building Bridges, Leaving No Ones Behind, Living in Balance, Prospering Together, and UAE Vision 2071 – this program will explore the most pressing challenges facing humanity through cultural, social, environmental, and economic lenses.
The inaugural “Cultures in Conversation” session will take place on Saturday of each thematic week, beginning on October 9, 2021, as part of Climate and Biodiversity Week, and the final session will take place on March 26, 2022.
The program will include a series of interdisciplinary events, cross-cultural conversations, and artistic interventions with UAE-based poets, artist groups, academics, and diplomats, exploring relevant topics at the heart of today’s cultural conversations through immersive experiences, as an artist. Interventions, talks, and informal presentations.
The Syrian Contemporary Dance Company Sima The Sima Dance Company. Poet, artist, film director Nujoom Al-Ghanim and author Charles Landry are just some of those involved in the initiative.

Cultures in Conversation is Al Serkal’s first project with Expo 2020 Dubai.
